trade shows, packaging industry, lantechWe attend and exhibit at a lot of trade shows each year, but we have three favorites we always look forward to. We get to see friends and colleagues, visit a new city or country, and get to see what’s new in the stretch wrapping and packaging industry.

PACK EXPO

It’s going to be a busy month, as this show is coming up in just a couple weeks, September 23 – 25. This show is all about packaging, processing, and supply chain logistics, and they’re expecting over 1,700 exhibitors to fill the Las Vegas Convention Center. This is sort of the Super Bowl for packaging companies: companies launch new products and technologies, packaging managers get hands-on demonstrations, and new processes and best practices are shared and discussed.

We’ll be in booth C-1314 at PACK EXPO this year.

Next year, PACK EXPO will be in Chicago from November 2 – 5, and will be joined by the Pharma Expo, as a way for pharmaceutical, medical device, personal care, and nutraceutical companies to connect with people in the packaging, processing, and supply chain businesses.

drinktec

The drinktec show is just around the corner too, from September 16 – 20, and halfway around the world in Munich, Germany. This is truly a global fair, and billed as the “World’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry.” There will be 1,400 exhibitors from 70 countries and 60,000 visitors from 170 countries. If Pack Expo is the Super Bowl of packaging and processing, drinktec is the World Cup of the beverage industry.

According to the website, the show will bring in representatives from several different kinds of functions, including filling and packaging, process automation and engineering, as well as the soft drink and juice industry, bottled water industry, wineries, distilleries, breweries, and even representatives from several universities and specialist colleges.

Since Lantech participates in the global marketplace, we will be in booth A6.134 at drinktec this year.

FachPack

Let’s stay in Germany a while longer. FachPack is another important trade show for the packaging industry. This show, which is held in Nuremberg, Germany, from September 23 – 26, is centered around the packaging, processing, and logistics technology industry. It’s sort of like the European PACK EXPO. If we stick with the sports analogy, this is the FA Cup, the European professional soccer championships, of the packaging industry.

There are almost 1,500 exhibitors, 37,000 visitors, and 20% of them are from outside Germany. Many of them are from the consumer goods and capital goods industries, especially for food, drinks, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.

There’s also, according to their website, the Corrugated Cardboard Forum, the World of Experience of Solid Board, and the theme park “Packaging in Medical Technology and Pharmacy.” (Personally, I can’t wait to ride the “It’s a Small World and Getting Smaller” shrink wrapping ride.)

We’ll have a booth in Hall 3, 3-223 at this year’s FachPack.

These are just three of the trade shows we attend, but there are several others throughout the world and throughout the year. What are some of the trade shows you attend for packaging information? Let us hear from you. We may end up seeing you at an upcoming event.
